HARRISONBURG — Dr. Angelos Pangratis, deputy head of the Delegation of the European Commission to the United States, will speak at James Madison University Tuesday, Sept. 25. His topic is "The Future for EU/US Economic and Political Relations."

Pangratis' presentation on relations between the European Union and the United States is part of International Week at JMU, Sept. 24-28, which is focusing on the theme, "European Union: United in Diversity."
About Dr. Angelos Pangratis:
Pangratis is the senior career official serving the European Commission's delegation. Previously he was the ambassador and head of delegation for the European Commission's delegation to Argentina. During his career in the European Commission, he has served as head of unit responsible for relations with China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, South Korea and Mongolia. He has been the commission's representative to numerous multilateral organizations and has lectured at universities in the Czech Republic, France, Korea, South Africa and Argentina. Pangratis holds a doctoral degree in international economics, monetary policies and finance from the University of Paris I, Pantheon Sorbonne.
While at JMU, Pangratis will meet with faculty and students, including those in Dr. Jessica R. Adolino's European Politics class. Adolino, a professor of political science, is the academic director of JMU's new master's degree program in Italy, which focuses on European Union Policy Studies.
