HARRISONBURG — James Madison University's Outreach Programs now offers online graduate courses for teachers, in partnership with Virginia's Public Broadcasting Service TeacherLine program.

Courses in mathematics, reading, science, instructional technology and instructional strategies are available for kindergarten through 12th-grade teachers.

"The courses correlate with Virginia's major areas of need and align with the Virginia Standards of Learning," according to Sarah MacDonald, outreach programs coordinator. "JMU is excited to offer graduate credit for these exceptional, research-based programs."

More than 20 teachers have already completed TeacherLine courses for graduate credit through JMU. The teachers were from public and private schools in Virginia Beach, Newport News, Norfolk, Suffolk, Williamsburg and Surry County.
