HARRISONBURG – The Richmond Ballet will present four dances Saturday, Sept. 16, to open the James Madison University Masterpiece Season's Encore Series of professional dance, music and theater performances.

The 8 p.m. concert in Wilson Hall Auditorium will feature "Djangology" by Val Caniparoli, "Runaway Horses" by Chris Burnside and "Nuevo Tango" by William Soleau. Malcolm Burn's adaptation of "Cinderella" will spotlight dancers Anastasia Babayeva and Denis Gronostayskiy.

Founded in the late 1950s as a civic ballet, the Richmond Ballet became a professional company in 1984 with the leadership of Stoner Winslett, artistic director since 1980. Gov. Douglas Wilder proclaimed the company the State Ballet of Virginia in 1990. It remains Virginia's only professional ballet company.

Tickets for the JMU performance are $20 for adults, $18 for those with JMU identification and senior citizens, and $10 for children 12 and younger. Group rates also are available.

Reservations may be made by calling the Masterpiece Season box office at (540) 568-7000 or (877) 201-7543 (toll free). The office, located in the lobby of Harrison Hall, is open from noon to 4 p.m. weekdays.

Shuttle bus service from the JMU Convocation Center parking lot will be available beginning at 7 p.m. for ticket holders.
