From: Media Relations September 13, 2000James Madison University School of Theatre and Dance The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh Event Dates: October 3-7 HARRISONBURG James Madison University's School of Theatre and Dance opens its 2000-2001 theater season with The Cripple of Inishmaan Oct. 3-7 at 8 p.m. in Latimer-Shaeffer Theatre, Duke Hall. Billy Claven, a crippled orphan, grows up on the Irish island of Inishmaan in the care of shopkeepers Kate and Eileen Osbourne. Chafing under village lifestyle, which offers nothing more exciting than watching cows, Billy seizes the chance for another life when a film crew comes to the neighboring island to shoot a documentary. Irish playwright Martin McDonagh has a remarkable gift for blending dramatic structure with pure storytelling in a unique style that is at once wildly funny and darkly moving, says the director, Roger Hall. The play features Gabriel Leon Fry as Billy Claven, Carolyn Bream as Kate Osbourne, Hilary Mann as Eileen Osbourne and Trinity Baker as Helen McCormick. Tickets to The Cripple of Inishmaan are $8 for the public and $6 for senior citizens, children and JAC cardholders. Call (540) 568-7000 for tickets. # # #Media Contact: Leslie Sandefur - Publicist Phone: 540-568-7836 School of Theatre and Dance Fax: 540-568-7858 James Madison University E-mail: theatredance@jmu.edu MSC 5601 Harrisonburg, VA 22807 |
