JMU OFFERS TWO NIGHTS OF CONTEMPORARY DANCE SEPT. 8 AND 9 | |

From: Media Relations August 30, 2000HARRISONBURG - The School of Theatre and Dance at James Madison University offers two evenings of contemporary dance Sept. 8 and 9 at 8 p.m. in Latimer-Shaeffer Theatre in Duke Hall. As the opening concert of the JMU Masterpiece Season, the fifth annual New Dance Festival is a showcase of professional contemporary choreography from regionally and nationally known dance artists. This year's performances will feature work by Washington, D.C.,'s premiere dance company, Deborah Riley Dance Projects, the thompson & trammell dance company performing a duet by New York choreographer John Evans, and two pieces from regional dance artist Sharon Butcher in collaboration with JMU's Suzanne Miller-Corso. Also featured will be a new solo for Shane O'Hara from modern dance pioneer Daniel Nagrin and a surprise treat from Bob & Bob Dance. John Evans is the guest lighting designer.
