HARRISONBURG – World-champion Irish step dancer Liam Harney will star in Celticfusion, a performance blending traditional Irish dance and music with contemporary counterparts, at James Madison University Saturday, Oct. 14.

The 8 p.m. concert in Wilson Hall Auditorium is part of the university's Encore Series that brings exceptional dance and musical talents to campus.

Harney has starred in the London production of "Riverdance," the Irish dance musical, "WAVES," and a tour of Ireland and Australia in the Irish government project, "Great Famine Suite." He also performed in the Broadway production of "Flight From the Hungry Land" at Lincoln Center with the Brooklyn Philharmonic.

Harney also is an active choreographer, setting pieces for the movie "Blown Away," starring Jeff Bridges and Tommy Lee Jones, and for "Dancing at Lughnasa," starring Michael Learned at the Old Globe Theatre.

"Irish American Magazine" named Harney one of the top 100 Irish Americans, a list that included Liam Neeson, Aiden Quinn and Phil Donahue. Harney can be seen in the national Irish dancing commercial for Folgers coffee.

Tickets for the concert are $24 for adults, $22 for senior citizens and people with JMU identification, and $12 for children.

Reservations may be made by calling the Masterpiece Season box office at (540) 568-7000 or (877) 201-7543 (toll free).

Free shuttle bus service from the College of Integrated Science and Technology parking lot C-10 will be available beginning at 7 p.m. for ticket holders.
