JMU’s annual faculty-staff picnic will be held on Monday, August 17th. After hearing many comments and suggestions from faculty and staff over the years, the picnic will bear a new look, location and expanded invitation list. Changes will include a performance by a popular local band, a fabulous musical show by a nationally known group, and relocation to the JMU Quad.
Faculty and staff are invited to bring their entire, immediate family. The Quad will “open” for a picnic period on the lawn at 4:30 p.m. You are welcome to bring your own picnic/dinner and JMU will provide free dessert and non-alcoholic beverages. Beer may be purchased for $1.00 and wine may be purchased for $2.00. When purchasing alcohol, ABC laws require that we place a wristband on the person who is purchasing and consuming the alcohol. You will not be allowed to buy beverages for other members on the Quad – they must be present at the point of purchase.
Please park in the Warsaw Ave. parking deck or in any of the lots adjacent to the Quad.
The Hackens Boys will perform from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. followed by the headline performance of¬¬ 1964: The Tribute (to the Beatles) at 7:00 p.m.
Seating is on a first-come basis and will be sectioned off into areas for blankets, low-height beach chairs and taller lawn chairs to allow viewing for everyone.
In the event of severe weather conditions, the concert will be held indoors (notification will be sent in advance).
Faculty and staff will be required to reply to the event (via an email invitation sent out in the next week.)
