November 10, 2012 Saturday @ 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Studio Theatre

The twenty–eight room Grey Gardens, once a glorious mansion in the village of East Hampton, eventually becomes a flea–infested prison to its notorious inhabitants. The reclusive aunt and first cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, “Big” Edie and her daughter “Little” Edie Bouvier Beale, maintain their eccentricity despite residing in the ruin of their formerly prosperous life. Having been at the forefront of the social register, the women display their distinctive style while struggling with their own dysfunctional relationship and bleak situation.

Contains mature content.

Presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.

The Studio Theatre
The JMU School of Theatre and Dance provides students with pre-professional training opportunities as directors, playwrights, designers, actors, technicians and managers. In the Studio Theatre at the Forbes Center, student-produced works comprise the Experimental Theatre Series. In contrast to the faculty and guest-directed shows in the Forbes Center’s larger Mainstage Theatre, the Studio Theatre offers students a flexible, state-of-the-art theatre “laboratory” in which to develop their own work. In these student directed, designed, and acted performances, students explore the possibilities of staging and, occasionally, non-traditional approaches and scripts. Audiences are invited to come and experience the new and often thought-provoking work of tomorrow’s theatre professionals.

Ticket prices: $8. General Admission. Tickets can be purchased online, by phone or in person at the Forbes Center Box Office (Mon.–Fri., 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m. or 1½ hours prior to performance) or at the Studio Theatre Box Office 1 hour prior to each performance. Cash, checks, major credit cards, JACards are accepted.

Mailing Tickets/Will Call — Tickets that are ordered more than two weeks in advance of a performance will be mailed to the address on file. Ticket orders received less than two weeks prior to a performance will be held for pick-up at the Will Call window.
