L.A. Theatre Works
Susan Albert Loewenberg, Producing Director presents The Rivalry by Norman Corwin

Friday, October 28 @ 8 p.m., Concert Hall

“L.A. Theatre Works is a national theatrical treasure...” – Philadelphia Enquirer. Experience the L.A. Theatre Works national tour premiere of the great American history play The Rivalry, Norman Corwin’s riveting depiction of the famous Abraham Lincoln-Stephen Douglas debates. The Lincoln-Douglas debates, an epic clash of ideas and oratory, shaped Americans’ view of slavery and freedom and marked the start of Lincoln’s quest for the presidency. The debates tackled the day’s most controversial issues as the country steamrolled toward civil war. The Rivalry uses dialogue from the original debate transcripts to bring to life the fierce competition between the future president and the incumbent senator. Broadcast worldwide on NPR, X-M Satellite, the BBC and the CBC, L.A. Theatre Works also performs a hugely successful season of live radio theater in Los Angeles.
