The 31st Contemporary Music Festival (October 3–5) features jazz/classical composer, drummer and arranger John Hollenbeck, his group the Claudia Quintet and German conductor Jan Horstmann. Grammy Award nominee John Hollenbeck has created a passionate new musical language based on world rhythms, lyricism and spirituality. Hollenbeck has worked with many of the world’s leading jazz musicians and received numerous commissions and awards, including the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship in 2007. Two of his records, A Blessing (2005) and Eternal Interlude (2009), received Grammy Nominations. In 1997, Hollenbeck formed the acclaimed Claudia Quintet, which has amazed audiences from Alabama to the Amazon. The group, whose appeal extends well beyond traditional jazz audiences, has released four critically acclaimed CDs. Ticket prices: $10–$11 Advance tickets can be purchased online, by phone or in person at the box office (Mon.–Fri., 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m. and 1½ hours prior to performance). Major credit cards, cash, checks and JACards accepted.
JMU student tickets: $4 in person at box office only with student ID. One ticket per ID. Student tickets are not available online. Cash only 1½ hours prior to performance.

Mailing Tickets/Will Call — Tickets that are ordered more than two weeks in advance of a performance will be mailed to the address on file. Ticket orders received less than two weeks prior to a performance will be held for pickup at the Will Call window.
