Eros and Psyche

Experience this new opera with music by Larry Taylor, professor of music at Bridgewater College, and a libretto by Tom Noe, an Indiana-based poet and playwright. The opera is based on the Eros/Psyche myth in which the god of love falls tragically in love with the most beautiful woman in the world. The cast includes James Madison University professors Dorothy Maddison and Kevin McMillan. Comprising the chorus are both JMU and Bridgewater College students.

Taylor has been a member of Bridgewater's faculty since 2003. He holds a bachelor of sacred music degree from Seton Hill University. He also holds master's degrees in organ from Emory University and piano from the University of Notre Dame. He earned a D.M.A. from the University of Cincinnati. Taylor serves as organist/choir director at Luray United Methodist Church.

Ticket prices: $8–$10 Advance tickets can be purchased online, by phone or in person at the box office (Mon.–Fri., 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m. and 1½ hours prior to performance). Major credit cards, cash, checks and JACards accepted.

JMU student tickets: $4 in person at the box office only with student ID. One ticket per ID. Student tickets are not available online. Cash only 1½ hours prior to performance.

Mailing Tickets/Will Call — Tickets that are ordered more than two weeks in advance of a performance will be mailed to the address on file. Ticket orders received less than two weeks prior to a performance will be held for pickup at the Will Call window.
