What is an internship fair?
The internship fair is a chance for you to meet recruiters from leading companies, interview for summer internships, and gain valuable professional work experience.
What happens at an internship fair?
There are two parts to the fair. During the morning from 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM, recruiters spend time showcasing their companies and talking about their internships. Interviews will be held in the afternoon from 12:20 PM - 4:30 PM.
Where is the internship fair?
The fair will be held in the Festival Conference Center, 1301 Carrier Drive.
When is the internship fair?
The internship fair will be held February 28, 2008, beginning at 9:00 AM. Company showcasing ends at 11:30 AM, with scheduled interviews beginning at 12:20 PM in the Festival Conference Center.
Who may participate?
The internship fair is open to all students at JMU, from freshmen to graduate students.
What do I need to do?

Review your resumé. Visit http://www.jmu.edu/cap for some great help on resumé writing and interviewing skills.

Bring along at least 10-15 copies of your resumé.

Show up between 9:00 AM and 11:30 AM to meet the companies. Individual interviews will take place from 12:20 PM - 4:30 PM.
Will there be any additional companies?
YES, each year
several organizations decide to attend after the company registration deadline. Please check the Companies section (coming soon!) of this website to view organizations attending the event.
As companies register, the list will be updated, so check back regularly.
What should I wear?

Showcase: Appropriate casual business attire or business attire.

Interview: Business attire.
How should I prepare for the interview?

Clarify goals: What do you want to get out of the internship fair?

Determine which organizations you want to talk to and eventually interview with.

Be professional - have good copies of your resumé with you; it should be as professional as you are.

Make it happen...network...prepare a "one minute commercial" describing yourself

*Describe what you have to offer the organization -
Conclude by asking for a business card (so that you may send a thank you card, letter or note) and thanking the interviewer for his/her time. End as you began...with a firm handshake and a smile.

Ask for a contact name and number if not provided.

It is important to take the initiative and follow up on job leads through letters, phone calls and by sending a resumé.
