- Smile, try to relax and
maintain good eye contact
- Speak clearly and concisely
- Be as positive as possible
in what you say
- Be enthusiastic
- Take time to collect your
thoughts before answering questions
- Be active, not passive,
during your interview
- Show your interest
- Ask when or how you will
learn of their decision, if not told
- Thank the interviewer and
send a thank you note

- Smoke or chew anything
- Criticize former teachers
or employers
- Lie about anything
- Ask about salary, but be
prepared to discuss salary if the employer raises the subject
- Discuss your personal
financial problems unless specifically asked
- Tell about other jobs you
applied for and failed to get
- Apologize for any lack of
experience or training (stress your strengths)
- Plead for a job or a chance
