03/25/2009 - Risk Management Training, April 3 and 4

To:        JMU Faculty and Administrators involved with study abroad
From:   Felix Wang, Director of Study Abroad

The JMU Office of International Programs is pleased to present Risk Management Training for study abroad. Two sessions are scheduled for April 3 and 4; you need to attend only one of the sessions. This is REQUIRED training if you are leading a trip this summer or next fall or spring or if you plan to offer a program in the near future.

The guest facilitator is Bill Frederick, Director of Safety and Risk Management Services at The School for Field Studies, whose Risk Management Services was created in 2005 in recognition of underdeveloped areas of risk management in study abroad. Understanding the increasing need for better preparedness in this important area, we are pleased to have Mr. Frederick's guidance and expertise. He and his program have a worldwide clientele, including Harvard, MIT, Miami University, Temple, and providers and institutions in New Zealand, Thailand, and the Dominican Republic. For more details about the program, go to
