International Week

Borders and Boundaries

September 23 - 27, 2013

The Office of International Programs is happy to announce the 2013 International Week theme, “Borders and Boundaries.”  This year's theme breaks from the historical focus of a particular geographical location and instead places emphasis on an idea spanning across cultures.  We hope the theme will be more inclusive of cultures, countries and systems that encompass our global community.  Come attend our events during I-Week, as we view the world through this idea of “borders and boundaries.”

The opening festivities will take place from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Monday, September 23, with an international bazaar on The Commons.  We hope you’ll come out to enjoy various street vendors, a sampling of food, and a “performance” from noon - 1 p.m.  The international events throughout the week will include …. a debate event, a musical concert featuring JMU musicians, a study abroad fair, a photo contest, and a world cup soccer tournament. Be sure to check the calendar of events (in late August) for times and locations.

Please join us as we commemorate cultural diversity at JMU. We invite our community of Harrisonburg, also rich in many languages and cultures, to join us and be part of 2013 International Week.
