World Cup Soccer

The Office of International Programs (oIP) is hosting a World Cup Soccer Tournament, part of the festivities of International Week.  The 6 v 6 tournament will be held on Friday, September 27, at University Park turf fields.  This event is open to the JMU community.

The tournament structure will depend on the number of teams that participate, however teams will likely play at least three 25-minute, games with a chance to advance to a playoff round.  To register for the tournament, submit a team roster to Jonathan Kratz (kratzjx@jmu.edu). Individuals can register without a team, but there is no guarantee they will be able to participate.  If more than 6 individual registrations are received, they will be placed on the same team.  Please read the details below before submitting your roster.

 Details:

  • Roster will include first and last names, eIDs, team name and team captain (main contact person).
  • Rosters should include a minimum of 6 players and a maximum of 11 players.
  • Co-Ed (male and female) teams are encouraged.
  • Members of the JMU Men’s and Women’s Intercollegiate Soccer teams and Men’s and Women’s Club soccer teams are not eligible to play.
  • Rules will be sent out the week of September 23-27.
  • The first 10 teams will be accepted into the tournament; additional teams will be considered depending on the tournament structure.
  • Deadline to submit your team is Sunday, September 22.
