Tax Assistance

ALL international students and scholars who were in the U.S. for any period of time during the said tax year (2012, 2013...) (whether you worked, received a scholarship OR not) must file an annual tax statement, called an income tax return, with the federal government.

The type of income tax return that you complete depends on a few criteria:

If you worked (at JMU, Aramark or even off campus) at some point in the tax year, the institution for which you worked for should have been sending you a W2 form. If by mid February you have not yet received it, you need to:

  • Go to this url if you worked for or received a scholarship from JMU
  • If you work for Aramark (dining services): Access the W-2 eXpress website. You will first need to enter the Employer Name or code which is 12323 and then, for security reasons, you will be asked to change your password each time you log in. Once you do so, you will be able to print a copy of your W-2,

Several tax workshops will be scheduled sometime in the spring semester to help you file the correct return income tax. You will need to bring your passport!
