International Career Day Schedule

1:45-8:00pm -Allegheny Room, Festival Student and Conference Center
During International Career Day, you can participate in both interactive activities with Career Advisors and international alumni as well as informational sessions.
1:45pm Welcome and Overview: Make the most out of International Student Career Day by learning about all the sessions available. Also, sign up for on-site resume critiques and interview skills practice.
2:00pm OPT Session: If this is your last semester, make sure to attend this session to learn about the Optional Practical Training (OPT) process. Presenter: Gina Kudrav, OIP-ISSS Office
2:30pm Resume Writing: Learn the fundamental components of writing a resume. Learn how to tailor your resume to market yourself. Presenter:Tara Price, Career & Academic Advising
3:15pm The Job Search Deal: Learn about the process of searching for and obtaining a job or internship; identify the key components you need and prepare yourself as you begin this process.Presenter:Marcus Anderson, Career & Academic Planning
4:00pm The Work Visa: Obtaining a work visa is not a simple process. You need to take a lot of factors into consideration including planning. Presenters: David E. Gluckman and Jonathan Moore, Associate Attorneys- Immigration Practice Group
5:30pm Alumni Panel: Like you, these panelists were international students (at JMU) who went through the job search and immigration ordeal. Come listen to what worked for them and what did not. Panelists: Priscila S Tchorbadjian, Sufi Nawaz, Jona Okoth, Ernest Mougoue, Kathrine V. Storm
6:30pm Rotary Club Networking Dinner: Meet with Rotarians (in executive positions), learn proper lunch interview etiquette, learn about their professions, and enjoy a free dinner! Dress to impress! (Festival, Ballroom B)
On-site Interactive Activities (Sign-up for a time slot at the booth):
2:00-5:00pm Resume Critiques: Bring your resumes and have a trained Career Advisor review it and provide helpful feedback on site.
2:00-5:00pm Interview Skills Practice: Be coached on how to prepare for an American-style interview by a trained Career Advisor.
4:00-5:30pm Ask an Alumni: This is your oppurtunity to ask a JMU international alumni questions about how their job search was successful, career advice and what it is like to live and work in the United States.
No permit is necessary. Just be sure to park in the D3 lot next to the Festival Student and Conference Center (as shown in the Skyline Area of the campus map).
