International Student Leadership Conference (ISLC) Host
What is an ISLC host?
An ISLC host is someone who serves in a host capacity during the International Student Leadership Conference. You will not be expected to host someone overnight in your room, but instead you will take care of our conference participants to make sure that they know their way around the conference location (JMU campus), that they feel welcome and do not feel secluded and that they have a positive experience overall. This will mean that you will also serve in a group leader capacity by helping to facilitate different activities, conversations, and games throughout the conference. Hosts will be assigned approximately 20 conference participants and will be given specific instructions on what activities to lead, what conversations to facilitate, etc. As a host your registration fee will be waived, you will also be given a special ISLC host shirt, but more importantly you will gain some great experiences and have the privilege to take part in a unique experience/conference which will be especially exciting this year!
As an ISLC host you need to commit to:
Attending initial meeting on February 24 from 4pm until 5:45pm (food will be provided)
Attending at the conference location to assist with ISLC responsibilities from Friday March 16 from 4pm till 11pm and Saturday March 17 from 8am till 12am.
Making sure that the 250 or so participants feel welcome and included
Helping set-up conference rooms
Ensuring that the participants can find their way around
Facilitating group discussions/activities
Assisting conference directors with tasks
Handing out evaluation forms
Taking care of other misc. tasks as they come up!

-- Please note that we are no longer looking for conference hosts anymore --
