Special Projects & Initiatives

JMU's Office of International Programs is committed to promoting and supporting international experiences for faculty and professional staff as well as students. Indeed, the success of campus-wide internationalization efforts depends upon the creativity and commitment demonstrated in faculty and staff courses, research, and service that promotes an international context and perspective. The benefits of an internationalized faculty and professional staff are many. Participation in international endeavors promotes collaboration, connectivity, interdisciplinarity, creativity and the global competence of our students.

The oIP supports JMU faculty and staff members in many different ways including the development of short-term study abroad and student exchange programs, identification of external funding sources, creation of partnerships on grants and other external projects, identification of international contacts through our consortium and other sites, the development of internationalized curricula, and the provision of financial support for international travel and program development.

If you are interested in pursuing global engagement to a greater degree, please see the information at the links to the left or contact the oIP Executive Director, Lee Sternberger, at 568-7002 or sternblg@jmu.edu for further assistance.
