Location

Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines is a new town in the French département of Yvelines. It is one of the original five villes nouvelles (new towns) of Paris and was named after the Saint Quentin Pond, which was chosen to become the town's centre. The town was built from a greenfield site starting in the 1960s. In 2007, Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines had a population of 146,598. It is part of the much larger Paris metropolitan area.

University Profile

Like all French universities, UVSQ is a national, public service establishment of higher education : it is one of the state-owned establishments of scientific, cultural and professional nature.

 

The President, her office, the Vice-Presidents, the Secretary General and the Accounts Officer make up the management team.

Academics


COURSES INFORMATION

Fields of study include: Sciences: biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, mathematics, engineering sciences and  Humanities: law, political science, economics, management, administration, sociology, history, geography, sustainable development , literature and civilization (French, Spanish and English)

Language of courses: French

Courses taught in English are in the American and English literature and civilization department and a few in international and political issues.

Choice of courses:
Students are asked to choose a major field of study but they will be allowed to take courses in other fields.
The access to courses in some specific diploma is not guaranteed (i.e. professional license, musical license and 2nd year of Master).
Students will need to contact the relevant head teacher prior to arrival, to be authorized to attend such courses.

Program Costs

Exchange programs charge only regular JMU tuition, based on residency, while room and board are paid to the host institution. Students are responsible for airfare and personal expenses.

Accommodations


UVSQ has a quota of places for exchange students in the CROUS residences (Vauban in Guyancourt, Lamarck in Elancourt, Pozzo di Borgo in St. Cloud). The application procedures will be provided during your registration within the International Relations Department of the UVSQ.

In addition, students also have the option of Flat-Sharing, homestays, etc. with the help of the university.

Reflection Paper


All students who participate in a JMU exchange program will be required to write a reflection paper upon completion of the program which will be available for future participants to read.

Eligibility


Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA and be in good standing with the university.
