Short Term College of Education Inter-Cultural Experience

The College of Education Paris Practicum offers students the opportunity to assist and lead instruction in classrooms at Marymount International School. Marymount uses an American curriculum and all instruction is in English. The instructors will provide a course schedule and syllabus during the spring seminar (required). Candidates will complete observations and instruction in assigned classrooms at Marymount International School; assignments may include journal reflections and a creative project designed to capture each student’s unique perceptions of teaching in Paris, France.
Location Description
Candidates will be living and working in Paris. The utilization of public transportation will be required to travel to and from Marymount International School. Excursions to regional tourist attractions will be arranged. Additional local outings may be arranged so that students can experience everyday life in Paris (e.g. meet French faculty members and college students).

Accommodations
Candidates will live in groups of 3-4 in apartment-style housing in Paris, which will be arranged through an agency. Access to instructor cell phones will be available. Lunch will be provided at the practicum site, along with a weekly meal stipend. Group dinners may also be scheduled.Additional Items to Consider
This program is best intended for advanced undergraduate and graduate students in the Elementary Education and Inclusive Early Childhood programs.
Candidates who are responsible and have not had any dispositional issues in college/ graduate school or previous practica are ideal candidates for this program.
