Human Resource Development in Salamanca

Program Location
The city of Salamanca is ideal for foreign students because of its beautiful setting and small size. It is a great location to explore and experience the Spanish culture and history. Located in the center of the city is the University of Salamanca, one of the oldest universities in the world.
Students visit the Alhambra Palace, the Cathedral of Burgos, Madrid, Barcelona, Montserrat, and Altamira, plus many other exciting attractions in cities all over Spain. Concerts, theatre and dance productions, local business visits, museum tours and bullfights are incorporated into the calendar to expose students to the variety of Spanish culture.
Academic Program
The University of Salamanca, with which the JMU program is affiliated, was established in 1218 and, through its outstanding academic and cultural programs and its superior facilities, still maintains its reputation for being one of the best universities in Spain, as well as one of Europe’s finest, ranked with the Sorbonne, Oxford and the University of Bologna.
Students will enroll in two courses for a total of 6 credits. Three pre-course sessions will be held on Thursday evenings in March and April prior to travel to Spain. All courses are taught by JMU faculty members. Students are enrolled in all aspects of the academic program in the University of Salamanca and have complete access to student facilities.
Undergraduate HRD minor applicants are required to have completed HRD 240, 245, and EDUC 370. ED Media Minor undergraduate applicants must have completed EDUC 150, EDUC 370, EDUC 332, and EDUC 336. Other undergraduate major are welcome to apply and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Graduate student applicants must have successfully completed at least nine credit hours in the AHRD Program.
Instructional methods include lectures, guided tours, journal assignments and/or papers, and exams.

- AHRD 570/LTLE 470- Diversity and Global Human Resource Development/Diversity and International Human Resource Development (3)
- AHRD 690- Special Studies in AHRD (3)
Accommodations
Students stay in shared apartments within walking distance of the school and city center. You will be able to learn about the Spanish way of life outside the classroom. For former students, living with Spanish families has proven to be one of the most enriching experiences of the students’ semester abroad.
