The Semester in London academic program includes courses, outings, and internships. All courses meet twice a week, once in a classroom and once on an outing. Our professors take their sudents to the source to learn about London by experiencing London. Outings include visits to museums, galleries, theatre performances, important historical and political sites in London, etc. You may join most classes on their weekly outings, even if you're not in that class.
You may also participate in an internship as part of your academic program. Students may choose from over 200 internship sites in London, and may participate for either 3 or 6 credits.
You must be a full-time student, taking 15 credits, and we advise you not to take more than 15 credits; there's just so much to learn and enjoy outside of class. No courses have prerequisites, and many satisfy GenEd requirements. You may also develop an independent study project, supervised by a JMU professor in Harrisonburg.
You will also take day trips and weekend trips to study and explore Britain's beauty and history. And you'll have plenty of free weekends to travel on your own, to hop over to Ireland, take the Chunnel to France, catch an inexpensive flight to Italy, or dig deeper into the richness of London.
