Communication Studies: Ireland Study Tour

Program Location
Built in the late 1600's for a local landlord, Inch House is now Ireland's
first dedicated Irish
Studies Centre for visiting
college and university
students and staff. Located
at Inch, Lough Swilly, County
Donegal and nestling in its
four acres of gardens and
woodlands, Inch House
Irish Studies Centre offers
a year-round program
design, management and
accommodation service.
The centre has
accommodation for up to
50 students, a separate
traditional 2-bedroom Irish
cottage for accompanying
professors/group leaders
and their families and
private minibus and coach
if requested. Inch House
also has free secure
parking and WiFi access
for all guests.
Academic Program
The JMU School of Communication Studies is offering a program of study entitled Conflict Resolution in Ireland. Spend two weeks touring Ireland; listening to experts on Ireland’s conflict with presentations from government officials, speeches by advocates, analyses with Nobel Peace Prize Winner John Hume and visiting culture centers, historic sites.
Itinerary/schedule
Instructional methods include lectures, guided tours, field work,
journal assignment and/or papers, and exams.

- SCOM 395— Studies Abroad “Conflict Resolution in Ireland (3)
Accommodations
Students will reside in hostels and hotels. Some group meals will be provided.
