Oxford University
Oxford University is a truly unique and historic
institution. As the oldest English-speaking university in the world,
it lays claim to over eight centuries of continuous existence.
While Oxford has centuries of history to unveil, at the same time
the University has not failed to remain in the present. The University is composed of numerous colleges with students studying everything from ancient history to modern mathematics. In
addition to High Street shops and many contemporary bars and restaurants,
the City of Oxford has a traditional covered market, gift and antique
shops, as well as some of the finest bookshops in the world. Traditional
pubs can be found that were once frequented by famous writers such
as C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien. JMU arranges study at Oxford through the Oxford Programme for Undergraduate Studies.
