Location
The capital of Egypt, Cairo is a large, vibrant city possessing one of the greatest collections of architecture in the world, and is a wonderful place for students.
University
Misr International University (MIU) was founded in 1996 as a competitive English-medium university and offers majors in six faculties, or disciplines. MIU is fully aware of the importance of opening up to the world and as such, places a great deal of importance on international partnerships, sustaining relationships with over a dozen universities in Europe and the U.S.
MIU enrolls approximately 4,000 students at their modern campus on the outskirts of Cairo in Heliopolis. University buses run back and forth from campus regularly.
Academic Program
In order to support international students academically, a special curriculum in Middle East Studies has been developed for international students, offering a year's worth of classes in areas from history to music to Arabic language.

Program Costs
Exchange programs charge only regular JMU tuition, based on residency, while room and board are paid to the host institution. Students are responsible for airfare and personal expenses.

Accommodations
All students live off-campus. The International Programs Office will assist all international students to obtain suitable housing in Ma'adi, a Cairo district where many Americans and other internationals live, along with Cairenes.
Reflection Paper

Eligibility
Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA and be in good standing with the university.

Financial Aid & Scholarships
Scholarships specifically for exchange programs are available each semester. JMU also offers Undergraduate International Exchange Program in the Middle East and North Africa scholarships for the '07-'08 and '08-'09 academic years. Most forms of financial aid apply to the cost of study abroad programs. Students should consult with a financial aid counselor for specific information about awards and eligibility.
