Central Europe Study Abroad

Summer 2008: May 14- June 9

Academic Program

Spend almost three weeks in May experiencing the culture and sites of Central Europe. Students will take two different courses, one on the culture, history, politics and survival instincts of royals and commoners and those who survived the Nazis and Communists and the other focused on how these cultural, historical and current politics set the stage for business in the region. Cities included on the itinerary: Budapest, Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, Prague, Czesk Krumlov, Dresden and Karlovy Vary. Visit amazing castles, incredible collections of crown jewels and art, local businesses and manufacturing plants, media outlets and other museums. Concerts, a river cruise and some surprises along the way.

This program is a joint collaboration between James Madison University and Bloomsburg University.

Instructional methods include lectures, guided tours, field work, journal assignments and/or papers, and tests/exams.

Tentative course offerings:
IBUS 298 Business Environment of Europe, 3 credits
GHUM 251 Hate, Hope and Healing, 3 credits

Accommodations

Students will reside in hotels in Germany, Austria, Hungary and Czech Republic. All breakfasts and some group meals will be provided. praguenightsky
