Yane Svetiev

Yane Svetiev is currently a Max Weber fellow at the European University Institute.  He graduated from the University of Sydney (Australia) with degrees in economics and law before moving to the United States for graduate studies. He obtained his masters and doctoral degrees at Columbia University in New York, where he was also a teaching fellow at the law school.  Dr. Svetiev’s research is focused on regulatory design and competition policy.  He has taught economics at the University of Sydney, and, since 2008, has held a position as assistant professor of law at Brooklyn Law School, teaching courses in contracts, intellectual property, and EU law and competition policy.

In addition to his academic work, Dr. Svetiev has been appointed as law clerk to the Hon. Justice Michael D. Kirby AC CMG of the High Court of Australia, the highest federal constitutional and appellate court of Australia, and as litigation associate at the law firm of Cravath, Swaine and Moore in New York.
