Lorenzo Mosca
Lorenzo Mosca was awarded the degree of Ph.D. in political science by the University of
Florence in 2004 with a thesis on the Internet’s impact on social movements. In 2006, he was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship (Max Weber) from the European University Institute. He has carried out extensive research on protest, social and political movements and their use of the Internet. He has personal experience of a wide range of methodologies including qualitative in-depth interviews, focus groups and survey research. He has been involved in several local, national and European collaborative research projects. These include, among others, “DEMOS - Democracy in Europe and the Mobilization of Society” (6th Framework Programme, EU) and “EUROPUB.COM - The Transformation of Political Mobilisation and Communication in European Public Spheres” (5th Framework Programme, EU).
In 2007 he chaired panels at the General Conference of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) and jointly organised panels at the annual conference of the Italian Political Science Association. He is a member of the steering committee of the ECPR standing group on forms of political participation.
He has published extensively in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and
articles in books translated into English, Spanish, French, German and Italian. His
publications include some 40 articles and chapters, 2 edited books, 4 collective books with highly reputable academics and over 20 papers presented at national and international conferences.
