Diego Muro
Diego Muro has been Lecturer in European Studies at King’s College London since 2003. He holds the Ph.D. in Political Science from the London School of Economics (2004), a Masters in Contemporary European Studies from the University of Sussex (1999) and a B.A. in Politics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (1998).
His first book, Ethnicity and Violence: The Case of Radical Basque Nationalism, was published by Routledge in 2008 and an edited volume on the Spanish model of transition is also forthcoming. Diego Muro’s work has been published in Nations and Nationalism, Ethnic and Racial Studies, Ethnicities, Politics, and Studies in Ethnicity and Nationalism. During his time at King’s College he has taught courses on EU institutions and policy-making, European identities, nationalism in Europe, and contemporary Spanish history and politics.
His areas of interest are comparative politics, nationalism and ethnicity, asymmetric warfare and political violence, social movements and democratisation. As a Max Weber Fellow, he has continued his research on nationalist violence and extend this research to a comparative study that explores the conditions under which terrorist groups disband.
