How to Apply

Students must submit an on-line application (see link below).  The on-line application gives applicants the ability to upload the documents listed below. The Graduate School’s on-line application requires all applicants to upload general personal information and the following documents:

  • Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate coursework.
  • GRE test scores – Applicants must have scores that place them above the 25th percentile. At least one score should place the applicant above the 50th percentile.
  • Personal Statement – In this two- to three-page statement, applicants should describe their educational and professional background and their future educational and professional goals.  They may also include other information that they think would be of interest to the application review committee.
  • Statement of Language Proficiency – In this statement, applicants should indicate the extent of their proficiency in at least one European language. They should indicate which language/s they have studied, the extent of their studies, and the degree of proficiency they have attained.
  • Statement of Policy Interest - The program's course of study requires each student to specialize in one of two policy tracks:
    • Economic and social policy (including the single market, economic and monetary union, competition policy, social policy, agricultural policy, regional policy, environmental policy, energy policy, and research and development policy).
    • Foreign policy and internal security (including foreign policy, security and defense policy, anti-terrorism policy, immigration and asylum policies, human rights promotion, efforts against human trafficking, and policies regarding the protection of personal data).

In the statement of policy interest, applicants should indicate which track they prefer and why. The preferences expressed on this statement are not binding; admitted students will have the opportunity to change their preferred policy track specialization once they have enrolled in the program.

  • A curriculum vitae or resume.
  • Two current recommendation letters from professors, employers, and other professionals qualified to judge the applicant’s ability to complete graduate studies.
