Each fall semester and spring semester, EUPS students visit Brussels, the heart of the EU's political system, for various intensive meetings with EU decision-makers. The fall visit (called the "Altiero Spinelli Study Trip" in honor of the influential Italian federalist thinker and Member of the European Parliament) allows EUPS students to engage high-level politicians and bureaucrats in substantive conversation/debate and to expand their professional networks. Angeli del Bello (Angels of Beauty) is a foundation whose goals are to restore and maintain the beauty of Florence. It aims to raise awareness and improve the community through volunteerism and civic engagement. On Saturday, September 24, 2011 Angeli del Bello hosted its third "Un Bacione a Firenze" (A Big Kiss to Florence) community clean-up day. Community volunteers, including JMU EUPS Masters students, helped to clean-up various streets and piazzas, and painted over some of the graffiti that is prevalent in the city. To kick-off the event, Florence Mayor Matteo Renzi welcomed all volunteers and thanked them for their service and community engagement.
