oIP Scholarly and Programmatic Initiatives
The Office of International Programs is committed to the development
of externally funded projects that enhance the range and number
of international experiences for our students and faculty on our
home campus and abroad. These projects include university and community
programs that explore other cultural practices and belief systems,
the promotion of diversity among study abroad participants, the assessment
of student learning outcomes while participating in international
education experiences, and secondary teacher training abroad among
others. These programs draw from and expand upon strengths across
departments and academic disciplines and enhance existing oIP offerings.
It is our hope that these programs—as a component of an increasingly
rich array of international experiences—will support and
promote a lifelong commitment to active and responsible global
citizenship among the entire JMU community.
Many of the projects and initiatives are documented in the OIP Annual Reports found on this link.
