James Madison University Wordmark

 

 

 

 

When presentation limitations prohibit appropriate use of the James Madison logo, the James Madison University wordmark may be used. Like the James Madison logo, specific standards govern wordmark usage. The wordmark must be displayed with visual integrity according to the following standards.

Standards

  • The James Madison University wordmark shall be legible.

 

  • The James Madison University wordmark typeface and proportions shall not be altered.

 

  • The James Madison logo typeface shall be used in the James Madison University wordmark.

 

  • The name "James Madison University" is a federally registered trademark and always shall be accompanied by "®" except when it is used in body text.

 

  • The "®" following the wordmark shall be approximately one-third the point size of the wordmark, yet never shall be larger than 12 points.

with Unit-Specific Graphics

The JMU Identity System does not preclude university offices and departments from creating unit-specific graphics. However, such graphics must be used carefully in combination with the James Madison logo and other marks and must adhere to JMU Identity System standards.

Standards

  • The James Madison University wordmark must appear prominently on any layout within the same visual space as the unit-specific graphic.

 

  • A unit-specific graphic shall not include the James Madison logo as a component.

 

  • A unit-specific graphic shall not be displayed in proximity to the James Madison logo.

 

The James Madison wordmark is federally registered and always shall be displayed with the standard registration mark "®."
