JMU Letter Mark for Athletics

When presentation limitations prohibit appropriate use of the Duke Dog logo or Duke Dog secondary mark, the JMU letter mark may be used. The JMU letter mark consists of the letters "JMU" in gold surrounded by a purple control-shape background and black outline.

The JMU letter mark must be displayed with visual integrity according to the following standards.

Standards

• The JMU letter mark shall be legible.

• The JMU letter mark proportions shall not be altered.

• The JMU letter mark shall be used only for athletics- or alumni-related communications.

• The JMU letter mark is federally registered and always shall be displayed with the standard registration mark "®."

• The JMU letter mark shall not have type or graphic elements overprint it.

• The JMU letter mark shall not be used with a graphic to create another athletics logo or mark.

• The JMU letter mark shall not be used in proximity to the James Madison logo, the Duke Dog logo, the Duke Dog secondary mark or the Duke Dog mascot mark. Another logo or mark shall not be closer than the total length from left to right of the letter mark.

• The JMU letter mark shall not be used in proximity to an athletics team or organization name that appears in large, display type. The Duke Dog secondary mark shall be used instead. An athletics team or organization name shall not be closer than the total length from left to right of the letter mark.
