YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world, highlighting the importance of sharing video content. Videos housed on YouTube can be shared on your social media networks or embedded in websites and blogs. Remember:

  • Don’t use copyrighted material in your videos, this includes music and images.
  • Take advantage of “Playlists,” which will allow you to group like videos, and the “Featured Video” function, which will allow you to make one video most prominent on your channel.
  • Using “JMU” in your movie’s file name prior to uploading will help your video come up higher in Google search results. Also make sure to keywords related to what your video is about in the video’s title and description.
  • YouTube offers analytics that will help you understand video viewership.
