Twitter may be the most demanding platform as users expect to be able to engage with you with some level of immediacy. Twitter is best used as a way to connect one-on-one with your audience members, often in a customer service capacity. Remember:

  • It’s important to find conversations going on about your organization and respond if they’re relevant. Posts that you’re tagged in will appear in your “Notifications” tab, but you should also use Twitter’s “Search” function to find mentions that you may not have been tagged in.
  • Grow your following by following others. Using the “Search” function, find twitter accounts relevant to you and follow them. Many users will follow you back.
  • Interact with other JMU Twitter accounts. Retweeting content or tagging other JMU accounts in your posts is a great way to bring attention to your page.
  • Make sure you’re signed up for Twitter Analytics to track your success.
