Facebook is a great way to share compelling visual content. Photos and videos almost always garner more engagement than plain text posts. It is also a powerful way to drive traffic to your website or share news articles, and can also serve as a public forum for your fans to discuss topics relevant to the page. Remember:

  • To set your account up as a “Page” under the “College & University” category. Do not set up your page as a personal profile.
  • For events, instead of creating a Facebook Page, create a Facebook Event. Event pages have more tools for drumming up attendance.
  • If you are looking to bring together a small number of very engaged users, consider starting a “Group” instead of a “Page.” Groups have great tools for supporting two-way conversations.
  • Pay attention to the “Insights” tab, it’ll provide you with analytics to help you understand what content is working the best.
