Beliefs, Values, and Psychology
Giving Away a World of Psychology
For over two decades, the relevance of "beliefs and values" both to research and practice in the field and profession of psychology has been recognized. Only in the last few years, however, have these issues begun to influence the processes by which psychologists are educated and trained. Increasingly, it is recognized that knowledge of what one believes about self, others, and the world at large - and concomitant processes of self reflection and self evaluation in the ongoing pursuit of self awareness - are among the necessary competencies that all professional psychologists should possess. Informing the profession about these issues - and cultivating such processes in education and training programs - are highly congruent with the educational mission of the IBAVI. Recent scholarship and documents relevant to such objectives may be accessed via the below links.
