Faculty Benefits Overview and Orientation
The Office of Human Resources and James Madison University would like to welcome you as you make the very exciting transition to become one of our faculty members!
New faculty members will receive a benefits information packet when they complete the onboarding process. Those that completed the process and their new hire paperwork prior to August 1 would have received this information through the mail.
Please make sure that you review the letter enclosed in the packet so that you understand the ways that the material is presented (group or online) and how to sign up for your one-on-one meeting with a member of the Benefits team.
Online Benefits Modules
We hope that this online orientation will answer many of your benefits questions and set the stage for your one-on-one meeting. The entire presentation will take about 60 minutes. It is broken down into an overview and 4 easy to use modules that you can view as your time allows. Please make sure that you review all of the modules before you meet with a benefits representative to complete your enrollment paperwork.
In the overview below, you will be introduced to the benefits team and be provided an outline of the online modules that will describe to you the benefits that are available to you as a full-time employee at JMU.
Below are the four online modules that you will need to view:
- Module 1- Retirement, Voluntary Long-Term Disability Insurance, Tax-Deferred Annuities and Roth IRA’s
- Module 2- Health Insurance
- Module 3- Life Insurance and Optional Life Insurance
- Module 4- Flexible Spending Accounts, Genworth Long-Term Care Insurance and AFLAC Supplemental Insurance
These modules will familiarize you with all the different benefits options and aid you in deciding which options are best for you. You may want to have your benefits package with you as the material is reviewed.
After you have worked your way through all of these modules please complete the acknowledgement form, so that your completion will be recorded!
