Honors
News
Honors News, the Honors Program
newsletter, is published four times a year. It carries news of program
activities such as guest lecturers, special events, updates on club and
organization activities, as well as regular and special features such as a
political column and profiles of honors students and faculty. The final issue
recognizes all graduates with distinction
and honors students who have received special recognition for achievement. A
staff of honors students who apply each fall for staff positions publishes the
newsletter. Contributions from honors students and faculty are welcomed and
frequently solicited.
Fugue
The first
issue of Fugue,
a journal of the arts, was published by the Honors Program in April 1995. During
fall semester, contributions from all fields of creative expression are
solicited from the entire undergraduate student body. Poems, short fiction and
plays, musical compositions and jazz charts, visual arts works in any medium,
costume and set designs, choreography charts and photographs of theater and
dance performances are welcome.
Early in the
fall, honors students may apply for staff positions. Other positions are
established as contributions demand. The staff is formed and contributions are
invited in the fall; selection, design and publication are completed during
spring semester.
Both Honors News
and Fugue offer honors students
opportunities to see their own creative efforts published as well as to gain
practical experience in editing, design and publication.
Epilogue
Epilogue, a newsletter for alumni
of the JMU Honors Program is published annually to keep in touch with and
encourage a continuing relationship between the JMU Honors Program and its
graduates. The newsletter carries articles on honors activities and honors
faculty and staff, as well as news of individual honors alumni.
