The Southern Regional Honors Council provides matching grants of up to $1,000 to member institutions to support innovative projects in honors.
The purpose of Dollars for Scholars is to support honors education in the area served by the Southern Regional Honors Council and to assist in the scholarly development of students in honors.
$ To encourage excellence and provide educational opportunities for individual honors students in the region.
$ To fund programs or projects that are unique in support of honors education in the South.
$ To develop and present regional or state-wide honors seminars on various topics.
$ To reach as wide an audience of honors-involved people as possible.
$ Students who attend Honors Semesters or other symposia officially sponsored by the National Collegiate Honors Council are eligible to receive financial assistance as determined by the Executive Board when funds are available.
$ Honors-related projects, programs, or seminars are eligible for funding in accordance with the following stipulations:
1. Funding is awarded on a cost-benefit basis.
2. Proposals for purchasing equipment or for travel are not acceptable.
3. A written agreement to implement a project that is either fully or partially funded must be sent to the SRHC Executive Secretary-Treasurer upon award.
4. An evaluation of a funded proposal and an accounting of the funds expended must be sent to the SRHC Executive Secretary-Treasurer within thirty days after project completion.
5. Results of the project are expected to be presented at a SRHC annual meeting.
6. Institutions must participate in Dollars for Scholars by cost-sharing.
$ Any institution requesting funds should be a member of SRHC; a student requesting funds should either be an individual member or be enrolled in a member institution.
