HONORS UPDATE

March 23, 2007

Clarification of Honors OpportunityProgram (HOP) requirements: 50 Honors Opportunity Points are required for all first-year Honors Scholars. Subject-Area students and Senior Honors Project Only students do not need to complete HOPs, but they are certainly welcome to attend any of the events listed for HOP. After their first year, honors scholars do not need to fulfill any more HOP requirements. While most of our first-year honors scholars are well on their way to completing this requirement, several are in jeopardy of being removed from the honors program at the end of the academic year for failure to complete this requirement. Freshman honors scholars who are not sure which events will count toward HOP should look on their Blackboard honors program account to see the listing of events and instructions on how to receive credit. There is very little time left before this assignment must be completed, so it is important to begin finding events to attend right away. Many choices are available. Contact Daniel McDow, mcdowdc@jmu.edu, if you have questions.

Honors Course Offerings for Fall 2007 can be seen on our website at http://www.jmu.edu/honorsprog/courses07.shtml

The course offering list will continue to be updated over the next several days.  Keep checking the site for the most current information.

Ms. Karen Evans is offering GENG 239-0002, Studies in American Indian Literature, LEC 10252, for Cluster 2 credit in the fall. If you have questions, contact her at evanskd@jmu.edu.
