HONORS UPDATE

March 16, 2007

 

Welcome back from spring break!  Hope you had a good one.

 

Important dates - March 19:  Summer school registration begins.

                             March 21:  Last day to register for 2nd block classes

 

We hope to have our fall honors course offerings posted on our website by the end of the day next Friday, March 23.

 

Summer Honors Course:  Ms. Karen Evans is offering GHUM 200-4102, Poetry, LEC 31862, for Cluster 2 credit this summer.  If you have questions, contact her at evanskd@jmu.edu.

The Scholar Ship is a semester-long academic program aboard a dedicated passenger ship that traverses the globe as an oceangoing campus. Students and staff from around the world come together to form a transnational learning community designed to develop their intercultural competence and leadership skills.  Deadline for the September 2007 maiden voyage is April 30.  www.TheScholarShip.com

 

The Phoenix Project is a state-wide non-profit that offers an 8-week summer opportunity for civic leadership/training.  It seeks to build a partnership between Virginia higher education and VA's most distressed communities that adds civic capacity to communities, strengthens the mission of universities, and provides a powerful context in which to prepare nonprofit and civic entrepreneurs for tomorrow's VA. FRESHMAN CLASS

SENIOR CLASS

Formatting workshops will occur March 26-28.  Plan to attend one session if you are graduating in May.  Bring your project to be checked.
