Faculty/Staff Door Decorating Competition

What: Homecoming Door Decorating Competition (presented by the JMU Alumni Association)
When: Oct-22-26
Where: JMU Campus

Faculty and staff: show off your JMU spirit by decorating your office door for Homecoming 2012. You have the option to compete as a department or as an individual.  There will be sponsored prizes for the multiple winners. For additional information and to register for the competition by Monday, Oct. 14, please  fill out this form.

Homecoming Alumni Golf Tournament

What: Homecoming Alumni Golf Tournament (presented by the Harrisonburg Alumni Chapter)
When: 9:30 a.m.
Where: Lakeview Golf Course, Harrisonburg, Va.
Cost: $275 per team, $80 per individual (team price goes up to $300 Sept. 21)

Join friends and alumni for this annual event to kick off Homecoming weekend. Registration includes green fees, golf cart, breakfast, lunch, and an awards presentation. Awards go to the top three teams. Highlights will include awards for closest to the pin, longest drive, and a raffle of JMU Alumni items. Raffle tickets and mulligans will be available for purchase during check-in. Register here.

SigEp Golf Tournament

What: SigEp Golf Outing
When: Shotgun start at 1 p.m.
Where: Spotswood Country Club
Cost: $50 a person

The undergraduate chapter has reserved the use of Spotswood Country Club for a SigEp golf tournament. The entry fee entitles you to golf, cart, drinks/snacks on the course, and a cool SigEp event hat. The chapter and AVC is also requesting a donation in any amount, which will go to the SigEp Balanced Man Scholarship Fund — a 501(c)(3) fund managed and controlled by the AVC, in conjunction with headquarters. Funds are used solely for scholarships and leadership education. Register by emailing Darren Appanah.

Pep Rally

What: Homecoming Pep Rally 2012
When: 5-8 p.m.
Where: The Quad (rain location: Festival Ballroom)

Grab your purple gear and put up your Dukes, as JMU prepares for its Homecoming football game against the Georgia State Panthers. Enjoy live performances from JMU cheerleaders, dance teams and A Capella groups, and appearances by Madison celebrities.

Social Work 50th Anniversary

What: 50th anniversary celebration of Social Work degree
When: 5:30 p.m.
Where: Festival Highlands Room
Cost: $25 a person

Join your fellow Social Work graduates for the degree's 50th anniversary celebration. Cocktail hour begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and an evening program.

Class of 1982 Welcome Gathering

What: Welcome Gathering for the JMU Class of 1982
When: 7 p.m.
Where: Capital Ale House in downtown Harrisonburg.

Join your 1982 classmates for the kick off event to your 30th reunion weekend. Food and beverages will be provided.

SigEp Reception

What: SigEp dinner reception
When: 7-10 p.m.
Where: Taylor Hall 405

Duke Club Scholarship Auction

What: Signs USA Duke Club Scholarship Auction
When: 6:30 p.m.
Where: Bridgeforth Stadium Club Level

This JMU Duke Club signature event includes both silent and live auction items, hors d'oeuvres, cash bar, and appearances by JMU coaches and student-athletes. Last year, the scholarship auction raised $45,000. Visit the scholarship auction registration page for more information.

SigEp Pregame Tailgate

What: SigEp football tailgate

Where: Hanson Field

Reconnect with your fraternity brothers and get ready to cheer on the Dukes at the SigEp tailgate on Hanson field. We will provide food and non-alcoholic beverages. Brothers wishing to partake in their favorite controlled beverages may bring their own coolers to the tailgate. Coolers and other personal property will be supervised while brothers and their families attend the game. Register by emailing Larry Caudle.

Planetarium Show

What: John C. wells Planetarium Shows
When: 2:30p.m. and 3:30p.m.
Where: Miller Hall, Room 1103

Enjoy a FREE show at the Planetarium (2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.) on Homecoming Saturday. Renovated in 2009, the Wells Planetarium is a state-of-the-art $1.5 million dollar facility. Admission is open to the general public.

Alumni Tailgate

What: JMU Alumni Association gameday tailgate
When: 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Where: Godwin Field
Cost: $20 adult; $10 children; children under age 2 are free

Join your fellow alumni and reunion classmates for a tailgate on Godwin Field. All reunion participants will have a designated area to meet up within the fenced tailgate. Price includes all you can eat BBQ, non-alcoholic beverages and beer, kids activities and a DJ.  All tailgate ticket prices will go up at midnight on September 26. Space is limited, so register here today.

Reunion groups participating: Class of 1967, Class of 1982, Class of 1987, Kinesiology/Exercise Science and PHETE and Phi Mu.

Homecoming Football Game

What: JMU vs. Georgia State
When: 3:30p.m.
Where: Bridgeforth Stadium

Purple out and cheer for the Dukes as they take on the Georgia State Panthers. Tickets are available via the JMUSports.com website, or by calling the ticket office at 540-568-DUKE.

When: Immediately following the game
