My favorite memory of Homecoming is battling through a stampede of about 200 fellow JMUer's with the goal of obtaining 1 of the 50 remaining " I BLEED PURPLE" tshirts! After quite a memorable struggle, I'm happy to say that I in fact do Bleed Purple....don't believe me? I've got the shirt to prove it :-)

It's hard to pick just one memory from Homecoming at JMU. For me, it was more about the overall atmosphere on campus that entire week leading up to the big game. There was energy and excitement which can never be adequately described - only experience. Now as an alumnus, Homecoming is about the very special opportunity to reconnect with best friends, old acquaintances and remember the best four years of my life that made me into the person I am today.

My best memory was Homecoming 2005 when we had a heartbreaking loss to Richmond. During that game I was baptized in Duke Pride after offering my voice as the sacrifice for supporting my school. I hope to do the same--with a win--this year!

My homecoming memories are tied to the Marching Royal Dukes. I just loved the band and during Homecoming in the early 80's and the advent of the "Electric Zoo", they were spectacular! Looking forward to seeing them perform again this year.

Homecoming is always so much fun, it's hard to pick just one memory! I think one of my favorite events during Homecoming is Sunset on the Quad. I love watching all the performances in front of Wilson!

My favorite homecoming experience would have to be Fall 2005. Participating in the parade with all the student organizations, then experiencing my first Pep Rally and the purple out frenzy are things I will always remember. Go Dukes!
Hillary Stetson ('09)
The sea of purple that surrounds homecoming will always be my fondest memory. Seeing alumni, current students, and future Dukes in the making come together as one big family for the entire weekend to celebrate our pride in JMU. It's a rare energy you can't experience elsewhere!

Back in the late 70's and 80's Dukes fans could sit on the hill rolling from the train tracks down to the stadium to watch football games. No trees, bleachers or giant scoreboards obstructed the view then. Homecoming 1987 -- my first year as an alumnus -- was a beautifully clear autumn day and thousands of people were on 'the hill' having fun, connecting with friends and watching a bit of football (the team then was nothing like it is now). The feeling of relaxed and friendly togetherness of that day always will stay with me.
