Locations and Logistics




In 2012, History Day activities will take place at the Festival Conference and Student Center at 1301 Carrier Drive. Drop off and pick up will be convenient, and buses will be able to park nearby at the Convocation Center Lot F. Plan to reach your destination from Port Republic Road to University Avenue, for reasons explained below.

  • Registration beginning at 8 a.m.
  • Presentations beginning at 9 a.m.
  • Judging from 9:30 to 12:30. 
  • Lunch break at 12 p.m.
  • Awards at 1 p.m.

Let us know if you need special transportation arrangements for handicapped participants.

You may hear about the gates that JMU is installing to limit vehicle access to the heart of campus. The locations of these gates will not affect access to the History Day site from University Avenue. However, if you have previously driven across campus to or from South Main Street or Cantrell Avenue, be aware that now the new gates will prevent you from driving through.
