JMU/FRONTIER CULTURE MUSEUM PARTNERSHIP
Graduate students in Dr. Gabrielle Lanier’s History Museum class piloted a two-day partnership program designed to expose them to the behind-the-scenes workings of the Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton. Students met with staff in charge of administration, marketing, collections, education, historic buildings, and interpretation. They also toured collection storage, shadowed a school group on a museum field trip (left), and worked directly with costumed interpreters to learn early American skills including fireplace cooking, rail splitting, and blacksmithing (below)
