campus coalition on alcohol abuse

The Campus Coalition on Alcohol Abuse (CCAA) serves as a subcommittee of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Strong Families/Great Youth Coalition. The CCAA, comprised of community members, students, faculty, and staff from James Madison University, acts as a catalyst in identifying community needs, selecting key alcohol prevention initiatives, and mobilizing community support.

Goals

With a specific focus on campus issues and the impact campus has on the greater community, the CCAA strives to do the following:

  • Identify problem areas and seek solutions through environmental management strategies
  • Provide helpful and factual alcohol information to business and student communities
  • Provide funding for alcohol-free events and programs that impact illegal and high-risk drinking.

Get Funded!

Through an application process, the CCAA offers financial support to local organizations and agencies who share in our commitment to develop and maintain safe and healthy campus/community environments.

The following are examples of recently funded alcohol-free events and programs designed to heighten community awareness, while diminishing the impact of alcohol abuse within our community:

  • Social activities that positively engage youth/students
  • Peer education initiatives
